Oxford is a charming city, famous for its prestigious university. At times, Oxford seems to locals too academic, decent, strict, that there is no spirit of a free university town hovering here. A visit to Oxford, an inspection of ancient architecture, acquaintance with the rich history, one of the oldest universities in the world does not leave tourists indifferent.

Offered educational programs in Oxford Sixth Form colleges 

A-level is a program designed for students aged 16-18 years old. The students choose 3-4 specialized disciplines for studying, which in the future will be studied in depth at the university. The international students can choose disciplines from the following list:

1 year GCSE programs is designed for students aged 15-16 years old. During one academic year the students will study from 6 to 9 specialized disciplines, also improve communication and learning skills in English. The subjects for studying can be chosen from the following list:

  • Chemistry
  • History
  • Geography
  • Economics business.

The program will also include various practice and seminars dedicated to the development of personal skills, involvement in public activities, obtaining new knowledge about health protection, as well as improving economic literacy.

This program will be an excellent base for students planning to enroll in the best British universities and those who aim not only to pass GCSE exams, but also to gain high-quality and in-depth knowledge in the disciplines of interest.

University Pathway (Foundation) was designed specifically to prepare international students for admission to British universities. The program has been taught since September 2014 and covers 5 main areas: English, Business, Mathematics, ICT, studying in the UK. The business course leads to the BTEC qualification, mathematics – to the AS qualification. Required modules: Spoken English, preparation for IELTS, English for Academic purposes, introduction to business, applied mathematics for business, ICT. Additionally, students choose 2 units from the following specializations: accounting,  marketing, management, law, retail trade, general issues. Successful completion of the course leads to obtaining British qualifications equivalent to UCAS scores, which allows the foreign students to enroll in dozens of universities in the country and around the world as part of the partner program. The duration of the course is 2-3 trimesters; the beginning is in September or January.

Accommodation types in Oxford Sixth form colleges

  • Host family

A private room, fully furnished and equipped with necessary appliances, equipped with a separate sleeping and study space. Usually, family accommodation is carried out on the principle of half-board (breakfast + dinner), in some houses students cook for themselves, freely using the kitchen. All families with whom the college has been cooperating for several years are carefully selected and constantly checked by employees.

  • Student residence (from the age of 18 years)

The colleges have its own residence in the city center: 13 private bedrooms with amenities and a shared kitchen. Meals on the principle of self-service, a tutor is constantly with the children. Accommodation in this residence is available for students booking a course for at least 1 academic year.

Enrolment process in Sixth form colleges in UK

To enroll in the A-level program, it is necessary to provide:

  • Be at least 16 years old;
  • Have a GCSE average of at least A* (if there is no GCSE certificate at the time of admission, the student must pass entrance tests);
  • Pass IELTS with a score of at least 6.5 points;
  • Pass an interview.

To enroll in the 1 year GCSE program, the foreign students must provide:

  • Be at least 15 years old
  • Successfully pass entrance tests (English, Mathematics) and an interview
  • Pass IELTS with a score of at least 5.5 points
  • Provide a transcript of school grades.
